Common questions

Why is delivery brokerage ₹0 on Zerodha?

Zerodha charges zero brokerage on equity delivery trades — you only pay statutory government charges (STT, exchange fees, GST, SEBI fee, stamp duty) and the CDSL DP charge on sells. This calculator reflects that exactly.

What is STT and why is it different for intraday?

Securities Transaction Tax (STT) is a government tax on equity trades. For delivery trades, it's 0.1% on the total turnover (buy + sell). For intraday, it's 0.025% on sell value only — because you're squaring off on the same day and don't take delivery of the shares.

What are DP charges?

Depository Participant (DP) charges are levied by CDSL when you sell shares you hold in demat — i.e., on delivery sell transactions. Zerodha's DP charge is ₹15.34 per scrip per day. On intraday trades (same-day square-off), no shares move from demat, so DP charges don't apply.

Does Strader track my charges automatically?

Yes. When you log a trade in Strader, it calculates your exact charges using the same engine as this calculator — so your P&L dashboard always shows your real net return, not just the gross move.

Does this calculator cover F&O?

No — this calculator is for equity (cash segment) only, matching what Strader models today. F&O has different STT, exchange fees, and brokerage structures not shown here.
